About the percentage calculator
How do I calculate a percentage of a number?
Multiply the number by the percentage and divide by 100. For instance, 20% of 50 is 50 × 20 ÷ 100, which equals 10.
How do I calculate percentage increase or decrease?
Subtract the original value from the new value, divide by the original value, then multiply by 100. The calculator labels the result as an increase or decrease.
Why can’t percentage change start at zero?
Percentage change divides by the original value. A zero starting value would require division by zero, so the percentage is undefined.
